Position Description
The Data Scientist will play a vital role in identifying and developing the best possible sites to provide low-carbon power to data centers and other large electric loads. The role will identify, quality control, and integrate large data sets at the intersection of the real estate, electricity, and digital infrastructure industries. The Data Scientist, collaborating closely with the Company’s development and GIS team, will then use this data to produce actionable recommendations and insights.

The Data Scientist will report to the Chief Technical Officer. It is a full-time position that may require occasional travel.

  1. Data Collection, Cleaning and Quality Control
    • Gather large data sets from internal and external sources
    • Clean, process, and integrate data sets to ensure quality, reliability, and standardization
    • Routinely update data sets as newer information becomes available
  2. Data Interpretation and Analysis
    • Develop and apply custom models and algorithms to extract meaningful insights on markets, project locations, economics and strategies
  3. Decision Support
    • Collaborate with the company’s development, GIS, and finance teams to identify, prioritize and evaluate markets and sites
    • Support scalable land acquisition offers and efforts
    • Monitor competitive landscape based on the maintained datasets and update findings
  4. Reporting and Visualization
    • Develop reports, dashboards, and mapping tools to effectively represent your key insights
  5. Continuous Learning and Innovation
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
    • Build an industry-leading siting methodology and analytical tools

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, applied mathematics or a related field

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Relevant work experience in similar roles
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical modeling
  • Familiarity with geo-indexed datasets, GIS data and mapping applications (or a strong willingness to learn)
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a can-do attitude
